Retreat From Rostov 

TIME Magazine called Retreat From Rostov a World War II novel with “enough melodrama to burn out every fuse in Hollywood.”  Originally released as a nearly 600-page book in 1943, it was a Random House bestseller along with The Ox Bow Incident and Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. 

Author Paul Hughes was an American treasure as a writer with incredible understanding of human nature and it showed in his development of characters.  It is through such characters that Hughes wove a captivating tale inspired by the battle for Rostov, which turned into the first defeat for Adolph Hitler’s armies.
